Virtual

Pasion y Arte has presented, participated in, and been featured in several virtual programs. During the pandemic, PyA had to pivot in order to stay connected with our audience. Virtual programming allows us to reach a broader audience and develop a stronger sense of community, even during isolating times.

Philly Celebrates Feira de Sevillana (2021)

In April 2021, PyA hosted Philly Celebrates Feira de Sevillana, a weeklong virtual celebration coinciding with the annual fair that typically takes place in Seville, Spain that was unfortunately postponed in 2021 due to Covid. Virtual offerings (which were shared via social media, eblast, and daily on the PyA website) included the film “Sevillanas” by Carlos Saura, the airing of the 4 Sevillana Get Togethers 2020 videos, recipes, clothing, and music and a final, live event.

Sevillana Get Togethers 2020

Sevillana Get Togethers 2020 was an interactive project that aimed to keep people connected during the early days of the Covid pandemic. It began with free Zoom classes focused on the learning of the 4 Coplas that make up the Sevillana dance and asking participating students to film themselves dancing. These videos were then submitted to the filmmaker Aidan Un, who created 4 individual films. Making its premiere at the 2020 Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Sevillana Get Togethers 2020 involved virtual learning, digital content, and prerecorded videos featuring an array of content. The ultimate goal of the project was to encourage a new way for the community to stay connected during such an isolating time, and to find solace in seeing each other on screen dancing together.

Close Ups: Elba Hevia y Vaca (2020)
