Almudena Serrano

Almudena Serrano was born in Puerta Santa Maria, Spain, and began her Flamenco training at age 13, studying with artists such as El Mimbre, Manolo Marín, Eva la Yerbabuena, Alejandro Granados, Mario Maya, and Merche Esmeralda.

Serrano has worked with the companies of Merche Esmeralda, Rafael Amargo and Curro Vélez, and in tablaos in Seville, Madrid, Barcelona, and Jerez. She was a finalist at the Concurso Nacional de Cordoba, earning the Premio de Carmen Amaya por bulerías in 2004 and was a finalist in the Concurso de La Unión in 2006. Some of the many Festival appearances she has made in Spain and internationally include Festival de Jerez in “De Sevilla a Jerez,”, “Jovenes Flamencos” at the Bienal de Sevilla, “de Larachi 2005” in Paris, and “La Chumbera Camino del Sacromonte” in Granada. Serrano has also taught Flamenco throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States.
